Love Long-Drive Road Trips? Here's All You Need to Know About the Rs 3,000 FASTag Annual Pass

If you're someone who thrives on highway adventures, India’s new FASTag Annual Pass will be a game-changer. Launched on August 15, 2025, this prepaid toll pass is designed for private, non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, offering 200 toll trips or one year of validity, whichever comes first.

The Annual Pass, priced at ₹3,000, is linked directly to your existing FASTag. Once activated, it allows free passage at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for the duration of its validity—meaning no per-trip user charges. At plazas managed by state governments, local bodies, or on state highways and expressways outside NHAI’s network, the FASTag will continue to function in its normal pay-per-use mode.

Activation is simple but specific. The pass can only be purchased through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app or the official NHAI website. After verifying the eligibility of your vehicle and FASTag, users must make the ₹3,000 payment for the base year 2025–26. The system checks details via the VAHAN database, ensuring it is issued only to private cars, jeeps, or vans. Once confirmed, the pass is usually activated within two hours. Importantly, FASTags registered only with a chassis number are not eligible; the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) must be updated. Using the pass on commercial vehicles will trigger immediate deactivation without notice.

The savings are considerable. For example, if your average toll is ₹50, then 200 trips would normally cost ₹10,000. With the annual pass, you pay only ₹3,000—saving around ₹7,000, and bringing your effective cost per trip to about ₹15. Beyond savings, this also eliminates the hassle of frequent recharges and reduces waiting time at toll plazas, making long drives smoother and faster.
