After weeks of political unrest and protests, Nepal is working hard to reassure the world that it is once again safe and ready for travelers. Tourism, one of the country’s biggest economic drivers, had faced a setback due to the recent agitation, but citizens and officials alike are now sending out a clear message: Nepal is open for tourism.
Social Media Push from Citizens
Across cities and business hubs, young Nepalis took to social media to clarify that the protests were “purely against the govt, without any intention of hurting tourists.” Widely followed accounts such as Routine of Nepal Banda (with over a million followers) even shared images of foreign tourists dancing to folk music, appealing: “Nepal back to normal. Please visit our beautiful country.”
Regulus Nepal, a trekking and expedition travel agency, shared on Instagram: “Nepal is Always Ready to Welcome the World. Nepal is not only safe but also ready to embrace travelers from across the globe with warmth, comfort, and unforgettable experiences.”
Nepal’s Tourism Resilience
Nepal’s tourism industry has always shown remarkable resilience. From natural disasters to political challenges, the country has consistently bounced back—thanks to the enduring spirit of its people, global traveler support, and the timeless allure of its Himalayan landscapes, culture, and heritage.
Travel Advisory for Indian Citizens
However, despite such assurances, caution remains. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has not lifted its September 9 advisory, which continues to urge Indian citizens to defer travel to Nepal until the situation stabilizes. The advisory also asks Indians already in Nepal to shelter safely, avoid public gatherings, and follow updates from local authorities and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
Bottom Line for Travelers
While Nepal is projecting confidence and reopening its arms to tourists, travelers—especially from India—are advised to keep checking the latest advisories before planning trips. With the government stabilizing and tourism bodies assuring safety, Nepal appears eager to bounce back as one of Asia’s most enchanting destinations.
