Goa has reaffirmed its position as one of India’s most beloved travel destinations, attracting a record-breaking 54.55 lakh tourists between January and June 2025. This marks an 8% surge compared to the same period in 2024, when the state hosted approximately 50.31 lakh visitors. Of the total footfall in 2025 so far, 51.84 lakh were domestic tourists, while 2.71 lakh were international travellers, according to the Department of Tourism.
This landmark figure reflects Goa’s growing appeal across all segments—solo adventurers, families, Free Independent Travellers (FITs), and group tours—marking a significant leap in the state’s tourism trajectory.
Month-wise Tourist Footfall:
January: 10.56 lakh (9.86 lakh domestic, ~70,000 international)
February: 9.05 lakh (8.44 lakh domestic, 61,000+ international)
March: 8.89 lakh (8.32 lakh domestic, ~56,000 international)
April: 8.42 lakh (8.14 lakh domestic, 28,000 international)
May: 9.27 lakh (8.97 lakh domestic, ~30,000 international)
June: 8.34 lakh (8.08 lakh domestic, ~25,000 international)
Despite the onset of summer, monthly footfalls remained consistently high, averaging between 8.3 and 10.5 lakh. January was the strongest month, recording over 10.5 lakh visitors.
What’s Driving the Boom?
The surge is credited to Goa’s strategic promotional efforts and sustained infrastructure development. The state has intensified marketing campaigns in key source markets—both domestic and global—while participating in major travel trade exhibitions and rolling out innovative initiatives under its 'Regenerative Tourism' banner.
Efforts to reposition Goa as more than a beach destination have paid dividends. By spotlighting hinterland trails, wellness retreats, cultural experiences, and spiritual tourism, Goa has broadened its appeal to diverse traveller profiles.
A strong presence at national and international trade fairs, coupled with large-scale festivals and sports events, has drawn both new and returning visitors. Enhanced flight connectivity—especially from the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia—has further boosted international footfalls.
Infrastructure Driving Growth
Goa’s upgraded airport, transport systems, and an expanding hospitality network have played a key role in managing high tourist volumes while maintaining service standards.

With the monsoon tourism season underway and a packed calendar of festivals, retreats, and eco-tourism experiences, officials are optimistic that Goa will sustain its growth through the second half of the year.
