WhatsApp may soon let you edit Status photos using Meta AI inside the app
WhatsApp is testing a new Meta AI-powered Status photo editor that lets users restyle and animate images directly inside the app. The feature, now spotted on iOS and Android beta, aims to make creative photo editing easier, faster, and accessible to everyday users without needing outside apps.
WhatsApp is testing Meta AI tools inside the Status editor. You won’t need another app to edit photos. This started on Android beta and is now showing up on iOS beta through TestFlight too. The aim is to make photo editing easier without leaving WhatsApp.
Some iOS beta users are seeing a fresh editing screen while creating photo Status updates. Along with filters, new AI tools appear powered by Meta AI. This means you can transform your pictures right inside WhatsApp, no switching to other editing apps needed anymore.
AI styles like Anime, Comic Book, Clay, Painting, 3D, Kawaii, and Video Game are being tested. These aren’t just stickers or overlays. The AI rebuilds your photo in the chosen style. If you don’t like it, tap Redo to regenerate a new version in the same style.
Meta AI can also remove unwanted objects, add new elements, adjust scenes, and even animate static photos into short moving visuals. It keeps the background looking natural and connected. It’s like having a mini creative studio inside WhatsApp for your Status updates.
The feature is rolling out slowly to selected beta testers via TestFlight on iOS. Some users on the regular App Store version might see it too, but not everyone will get it immediately. The update is being released in phases based on region and user groups.
