‘She is a menace to…', Donald Trump wants Microsoft to fire senior executive

US President Donald Trump on Friday demanded that Microsoft fire Lisa Monaco, who joined the company earlier this year after serving as deputy attorney general during the Biden administration. Writing on Truth Social, Trump described Monaco as “a menace to US National Security,” citing her access to sensitive government work and Microsoft’s extensive federal contracts.

“She is a menace to US National Security, especially given the major contracts that Microsoft has with the United States Government,” Trump posted to his 10 million followers. He claimed Monaco had been stripped of security clearances, denied access to intelligence, and barred from federal properties due to “wrongful acts.”

Microsoft declined to comment on the remarks. Monaco’s LinkedIn profile shows she joined the company in July. Her appointment resurfaced Friday after Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo posted about it on X, linking to a University of Chicago law school article published the same month.

The criticism comes as Microsoft finds itself at the centre of politically sensitive developments. On Thursday, the company said it would cut off certain cloud and AI services to an Israeli military unit accused of storing surveillance data on Palestinians, following an internal investigation. Microsoft also recently agreed to $3.1 billion in cloud-service savings for U.S. agencies.
