WhatsApp has added a handy new feature for iPhone users — the ability to set reminder alerts for specific messages. Rolling out in version 25.25.74, the update ensures you won’t forget to follow up on an important chat, whether it’s a work detail, a friend’s request, or just a message you want to revisit later.
Instead of starring messages or taking clumsy screenshots, you can now set a timed alert directly within WhatsApp. Once a reminder is active, a bell icon appears on the message. When the alert goes off, you’ll receive a notification linking you back to that exact message, complete with content and media previews (depending on your settings).
How to Set a Message Reminder in WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp and go to the conversation with the message you want to track.
- Long press on the message bubble.
- Tap More… in the popup menu.
- Select Remind Me.
- Choose from preset options — 2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours — or select Custom to pick a specific date and time.
- Long press on the message showing the bell icon.
- Tap More…
- Choose Cancel Reminder.
This feature could be a lifesaver in busy chats where key details often get buried. Imagine your colleague drops a meeting link in a group at midnight — instead of relying on memory, set a reminder for the morning. Or if someone shares payment details, you can remind yourself to check back at the right time.
