Jetson AGX Thor Launch
Nvidia has released its latest robotics chip module, the Jetson AGX Thor, priced at $3,499 for the developer kit, with shipments starting next month. Production-ready Thor T5000 modules will follow, priced at $2,999 each for bulk orders over 1,000 units.
A “Robot Brain”
Nvidia describes Jetson Thor as a core enabler for robotics companies. “We do not build robots, we do not build cars, but we enable the whole industry,” said Deepu Talla, VP of robotics and edge AI.
Blackwell Power
The chip uses Nvidia’s latest Blackwell GPU architecture, making it 7.5x faster than the previous generation. It can run generative AI models, including large language and vision systems, essential for humanoid robots.
High-Capacity AI Workloads
Each Jetson Thor module comes with 128GB of memory, enabling advanced AI tasks such as perception, reasoning, and real-time interaction with the physical world.
Adoption & Investment
Jetson chips are already used by Agility Robotics, Amazon, Meta, and Boston Dynamics. Nvidia has also invested in robotics startups, including Field AI, as part of its broader ecosystem push.
Business Outlook
Robotics remains just 1% of Nvidia’s revenue, but it is growing quickly. The automotive and robotics segment generated $567 million in Q2 sales, up 72% year-on-year. Jetson Thor chips will also support self-driving cars, particularly in China, through the company’s Drive AGX platform.
