Meta is pushing its AI wearables deeper into sports with the launch of Oakley Meta Vanguard, a new line of performance-focused AI glasses announced at Connect 2025. Developed with Oakley and priced at $499 (approx. Rs 41,500), the glasses aim to merge athletic eyewear with intelligent training tools.
Built for extreme conditions
Oakley Meta Vanguard is designed with high-intensity sports in mind. The wraparound frames use Oakley’s PRIZM™ lens technology to shield against sun, dust, and wind, while offering a secure fit optimised for helmets and hats. The frames are IP67 dust- and water-resistant, making them durable enough for cycling, trail running, or skiing.
Inside, the glasses feature powerful open-ear speakers — six decibels louder than Oakley Meta HSTN — along with a five-microphone array tuned to cut through wind noise. Battery life is equally practical: up to nine hours of use, six hours of continuous playback, plus a case that extends usage by another 36 hours. A 20-minute quick charge delivers 50% power.
Smarter training with AI
The real draw is the integration of Meta AI with Garmin and Strava. Athletes can ask hands-free questions like “What’s my heart rate?” or “How am I doing?” and get real-time insights without breaking stride. Subtle LED indicators in your peripheral vision keep you on pace for key metrics like speed or heart rate.
Autocapture, developed with Garmin, automatically records video highlights during milestones — such as hitting a distance goal or pushing into a higher heart rate zone. Strava integration allows athletes to overlay performance data on captured videos and share directly with their community.
Capture and share the action
The glasses include a 12MP wide-angle camera that records up to 3K video with options like Slow Motion, Hyperlapse, and stabilisation. This lets athletes capture marathons, mountain runs, or ski tricks hands-free, directly from their perspective.
Available in four frame-and-lens combinations, with swappable lens options sold separately, the Oakley Meta Vanguard will begin shipping on October 21 across the US, UK, Canada, Europe, and Australia. India and other markets are expected later in 2025.
