In Chris Claremont and Frank Miller’s limited series “Wolverine”, we find the iconic lines that define the Marvel superhero: “I’m the best there is at what I do. But what I do best isn’t very nice.” The X-Man and Avenger is making a comeback in video games with Insomniac Games’ "Marvel’s Wolverine". After revealing next to nothing on the superhero action-adventure game ever since it was announced in 2021, Insomniac recently dropped the gameplay trailer that showed the clawed mutant in a slashing and ripping frenzy, battling numerous villains like Omega Red and The Reavers.

Marvel’s Wolverine is a solo adventure for Wolverine and will take him to numerous exotic locales around the world, including Tokyo and Madripoor. The heart of this standalone Logan story is not much different from what you would expect from a solo Wolverine adventure: he is several centuries old, but no matter how fast he heals, he has gaps in his memories, pieces of a dark past he is not aware of, pieces that circumstances sometimes help reveal. In this game, Logan will go on a hunt “to uncover the secrets of a dark past that keeps eluding him.”

Insomniac Games is going for “an original take” on the Marvel Comics character. Marcus Smith, Creative Director at Insomniac Games, said in a video that working with Wolverine is interesting because “he is an unreliable narrator. He has gaps in his memory, so Wolverine doesn’t remember a lot of his life. And that’s got to be an extremely frustrating aspect.”

Eric Monacelli, Executive Producer, Marvel Games, said in the video: “He is this ball of rage and fury but then he could turn on a dime and he could be very, very kind and tender in the next moment."
