It would be safe to say that not many companies are trying to position their smartphones as proper gaming smartphones. Most brands take the simple route of keeping the phone’s aesthetics regular and add internals and features to suit the gaming or more demanding needs of users.
Infinix’s new GT 30 Pro is trying not to do all of those things. The phone – it is a gaming phone – looks like a gaming phone and feels like one too. Be it in terms of design, features or performance aspect.
The phone is priced starting at Rs 24,999, and the top of the line with 12GB RAM is priced at Rs 26,999. Now, that’s what makes this phone particularly interesting, especially when you see the on-paper specifications compared to the price. For instance, it is the most affordable phone with shoulder triggers, and it is also among the few to come with an in-built game centre that offers PC-level customisation options.
I have been using the phone for almost a month, and here is the review of the Infinix GT30 Pro 5G smartphone.
Design
As I have mentioned before, GT 30 Pro isn’t trying to hide behind the sophisticated shell. It is a full-fledged gaming phone, and it looks and feels like one too. There are two colour options – Black and White. The Black one looks more gamer-centric with dark aesthetics and highlighted elements all across the back panel. The White one is relatively more muted. But I like the White one more.
While design is a personal choice, the GT 30 Pro carries either colour with confidence. It shows off its character through a few well-placed highlights — the RGB lighting, the shoulder triggers, and those red accents framing the camera. It’s a phone you can carry into a meeting without people staring, yet when you want it to, it lets you show off a bit of its gamer soul.
The rear is constructed from a tough polycarbonate material. There’s a matte texture to it, which feels surprisingly nice in the hand — smooth, non-slippery, a perfect grip during a hectic match of Call of Duty or BGMI. The phone is well-balanced at 188 grams; it doesn’t weigh you down or become tiring to hold for a long time, which is a huge consideration for a phone designed for hours of gaming.
The side frame houses neatly placed power and volume keys; at the bottom you find a Type-C port, a SIM tray, a 3.5mm jack, and a speaker. At the top, there’s an additional speaker and a small IR blaster — a nice, often-overlooked addition — alongside a secondary microphone.
Display
At the front, there’s the 6.78-inch LTPS AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution that offers crisp visuals and deep blacks and contrast. The overall colour production of the phone is on point, whether you’re gaming or binge-watching your favourite shows. One thing to highlight here is the 144Hz refresh rate, which made a huge difference when I was scrolling through menus or playing fast-paced games — everything felt buttery and responsive.
One observation I made while using it daily: the phone gets incredibly bright. At a peak of 4,500 nits, I could easily view content under direct sunlight without straining my eyes. Viewing angles were great, and colours were rich too.
The phone is well-protected, too, thanks to Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, adding peace of mind against drops and scratches.
Software
Infinix’s XOS 15 with Android 15 with XOS 15 comes pre-installed on the phone. The good part is that Infinix has made tweaks to suit the needs of a gaming smartphone and cater to a power user. There are numerous customisation options — from choosing colour schemes to adding widgets — which make it feel more personal. The phone comes with AI-assisted tools like Folax, a voice assistant that lets you execute tasks hands-free, and a suite of photo-editing aids (AI Eraser, Cutout) for quick tweaks on the go.
For gamers, there’s GT Gaming Dashboard, and this is what I was referring to earlier. It is a hub where you can fine-tune settings, block notifications, and activate Bypass charging — a feature I liked during long gaming sessions, as it lets me power directly from a charger without putting stress on the battery. There’s also a magic voice changer, fps monitor, and a small trigger mapper to customise shoulder button controls. It’s a well-thought-out suite for gamers who want control without needless complexity.
Performance
Now, let’s address the elephant in the room. At the core of the GT 30 Pro is MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 Ultimate, a capable processor designed to handle heavy workloads and gaming without hiccups. It’s backed by LPDDR5X RAM (up to 24GB with expansion) and faster UFS 4.0 storage, which makes a huge difference when swapping between apps, loading games, or accessing large files.
Using it day to day, I was surprised by how effortlessly it kept up with whatever I threw at it — from heavy titles like Genshin Impact to swapping back and forth between social media, photo-editing, and messages. The phone remained snappy, without a hint of lag or slowdown.
Infinix has also worked with Krafton to make BGMI support up to 120fps on this phone. Not to forget, even more premium phones can’t do that at the moment. We tried it, and the GT 30 Pro delivers on that front. Most importantly, it sustains the performance even during hours of gaming.
Meanwhile, the 6-layer 3D Vapour Chamber Cooling System kept the phone’s temperatures under control. After a couple of hours of sustained gaming, the phone remained reasonably cool, which meant the processor kept performing at its peak.
That’s not it. I also tried playing Genshin Impact, and the GT 30 Pro managed to handle it without any major issues.
Talking about the shoulder buttons. They are functional and responsive. The good thing is that these buttons can be customised as per the game, and they have pre-configured settings as well. The implementation feels well-thought-out and not an afterthought.
Cameras
In the camera department, the phone sticks to the basics, and it does it the right way. The rear comprises a 108MP main sensor alongside an 8MP ultrawide. The main camera performs well in daylight — colours are accurate and rich, details come through nicely — but it starts to falter in low light. The phone’s Night Mode pulls back some details from the shadows, but the results are average at best. There’s some softness, a bit of smearing, and highlights sometimes blow out.
The 13MP selfie camera is serviceable for video calls and social media selfies, and it gets the job done.
To make the entire camera setup more appealing, Infinix has added some features like AI Extender, Eraser, and Cutout add some fun post-capture tweaks, letting you cut subjects from photos or erase unwanted elements.
The story remains unchanged for videos.
There’s not much to complain about the camera here. The camera is good enough and it gets the job done.
Battery and charging
With a large 5,500mAh battery, the phone easily kept up with my heavy usage — a full day of gaming, messaging, video calls, and social media — without needing a top-up. It supports 45W wired charging, 30W wireless charging, and even bypass charging, which lets you power the phone directly from the charger while bypassing the battery. That meant I could stay plugged in during a marathon gaming session without adding wear to the battery.
It also supports 10W reverse wired and 5W reverse wireless charging, effectively letting you use it as a power bank for accessories. The phone comes bundled with a 45W charger, and from nearly empty, it filled back up in about an hour — not the fastest charging on the market, but reasonable.
Verdict
The Infinix GT 30 Pro 5G feels like a phone that knows exactly what it wants to be — a gaming phone that performs without asking you to break the bank. At Rs 24,999 for the base and Rs 26,999 for the 12GB RAM variant, it delivers smooth gameplay, shoulder triggers that come in handy during hectic sessions, and a huge 5,500mAh battery that kept me going all day. It’s not perfect — the camera is serviceable at best — but for gamers who want power, control, and a bit of style without spending a fortune, this phone makes a strong case.
