The Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design was launched in China this week. It is the world’s first foldable PC, and has a flexible OLED screen that unfolds to 18 inches, and when folded, there is a 13-inch screen. With the introduction of LTPO technology, Huawei claims that this advanced display enhances energy efficiency by 30%. It also has a built-in kickstand for hands-free use.

The Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design has a starting price of CNY 23,999 (around Rs 2,84,700) in China for the 32GB RAM + 1TB storage option. Meanwhile, the 32GB + 2TB variant costs CNY 26,999 (around Rs 3,20,200). The laptop is currently available for pre-order via the Huawei China e-store and will go on sale starting June 6. It is offered in Cloud Water Blue, Forging Shadow Black, and Skyline White colour options.

The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design is equipped with an 18-inch 3K flexible LTPO OLED display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The display can achieve peak brightness levels of up to 1,600 nits and supports HDR10+. It also features TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 3.0 certification and a 1,440Hz PWM dimming rate. When folded, the device transforms into a 13-inch screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio.
The laptop runs on HarmonyOS 5 out of the box and supports 32GB of RAM alongside up to 2TB of SSD storage. It weighs 1.16kg and measures just 7.3mm thick when unfolded. Further, it has an 8MP front camera and has a six-speaker system with a quad-mic setup. In terms of battery, the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design packs a 74.69Wh battery with 140W wired fast charging support via a USB Type-C port.
Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Additionally, it includes an integrated stand and supports a 5 mm-thin aluminum alloy portable keyboard, with the cooling being handled by a vapour chamber and two slim fans.
