Good news for Google Pixel 9a users! You can now get a sneak peek of the upcoming Android 16 operating system, thanks to the newly released Android 16 Beta 4 update. Google officially made this announcement on Thursday, adding the Pixel 9a to its list of devices eligible for the Android 16 Beta Programme.
The Pixel 9a, which was launched recently on March 19, now joins the entire Pixel 9 series in getting early access to Android 16. This means if you have a Pixel 9a and have signed up for Google’s Beta Programme, you can download the latest beta update right now and test out the new features.
To check if the update is available on your phone, go to Settings > System > Software update > System update > Check for updates. Since Google rolls out updates gradually, it might take a couple of days for it to appear on your device.
Along with the Pixel 9a, the update is also available for other Pixel devices, including:
Pixel 9 Series
Pixel 8 Series
Pixel 7 Series
Pixel 6 Series
Pixel Tablet
Pixel Fold
If you don’t want to wait, there’s another option, you can manually flash the factory image of Android 16 Beta 4 onto your Pixel 9a. But be warned, this method isn’t beginner-friendly and needs a bit of technical knowledge
It’s also important to remember that beta versions are test versions. They might have bugs or issues that could affect how your phone works. So, it’s a good idea not to install it on your primary phone that you use every day.
For now, it’s an exciting opportunity for developers and curious Pixel users to explore what’s coming next with Android 16 before the official rollout.
