Elon Musk couldn’t hide his excitement after learning that Eli Lilly’s CEO, David Ricks, has been using Grok — the AI chatbot developed by Musk’s company, xAI — as one of his daily advisors.
Ricks mentioned in an interview that he regularly interacts with Grok to get insights and feedback on various topics, calling it a useful tool that helps him think through decisions. He added that Grok isn’t just another chatbot, but something he genuinely finds helpful in his everyday work.
Musk, who shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter), responded with a short but enthusiastic comment: “Cool.” His reaction, though brief, quickly caught the attention of X users, many of whom praised how far Grok has come since its launch. Some even pointed out how remarkable it was that a Fortune 500 CEO is relying on the platform for advice.
For those unfamiliar, Grok is part of xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence startup launched in 2023 to compete with the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. It’s deeply integrated with X and is available to Premium+ subscribers. Musk has often said that Grok is designed to be curious, witty, and “a little rebellious,” reflecting his own personality.
The fact that a top pharmaceutical executive is turning to Grok for professional input highlights how AI tools are finding serious use beyond tech circles. What began as an experiment in conversational AI is now becoming a part of how leaders think, plan, and make decisions and Elon Musk clearly approves.
