Full-time return to office, hybrid work, work from home — different companies have adopted different models in the post-pandemic world. There are companies who want employees to come back full time to office but have seen some sort of resistance. A report by The Register reveals how Dell is planning to monitor if employees are working from on-site offices or not.

The report reveals that Dell is introducing badge tracking through a “human capital management software”. The company will give colour-coded ratings to employees depending on their on-site presence. A blue flag will mean an employee is consistently coming to the office. A green flag will indicate regular on-site presence whereas a yellow flag will mean “some on-site presence”. A red flag will mean that the employee’s presence in the office has been very limited.

Not only that but Dell will also be tracking VPN connections to check whether employees are working from office or not.

As per the report, a lot of managers at Dell aren’t too pleased with the new system. The new policy implies that if employees choose to work remotely then it could hamper their growth prospects, or worse, they might be laid off in the future.
