Apple reportedly working on more affordable version of Vision Pro headset

After the successful introduction of Apple’s first mixed-reality headset, Vision Pro, last year at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the company is now gearing up to launch a successor with a cheaper price tag. A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple’s next big mixed augmented reality (AR) headset could cost around $2000.

The report adds that Apple is attempting to salvage the billions of dollars spent on the Vision Pro's Visual Intelligence Technology by aiming to bring Vision Pro's abilities at a cheaper price tag of around $2000 to entice potential buyers. This lower-end version of the Vision headset could launch as early as next year and may have a plastic build.

Moreover, it would not have Apple EyeSight feature support and could have a less powerful chipset. Many rumours have pointed out that the recently launched A18 Pro SoC, powering the newly launched Apple iPhone 18 Pro series, could power this upcoming Vision headset. The A18 Pro can be a suitable choice as it produces great multi-core scores like Apple’s M2 chipset, which is currently powering the Vision Pro.

The report also adds that a second-generation Vision Pro is anticipated to launch in 2026 with a faster chipset and more premium features. Apple also expects the cheaper Vision AR headset to sell twice as well as Apple Vision Pro.
