Google has officially begun rolling out Android 16 starting June 11, 2025, beginning with select Pixel smartphones. Android 16 rollout date The stable version of Android 16 began rolling out on June 11 as an OTA (over-the-air) update. Initially, it is being pushed to select Pixel devices, with a broader rollout planned for the coming weeks. Google has not specified a rollout time, and availability may vary by region due to time zone differences.
Pixel phones will be the first As usual, Google’s Pixel lineup is first in line. Devices confirmed to receive Android 16 in the first phase include Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and the new Pixel 9 lineup.
Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus to follow After the Pixel update, brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Motorola are expected to roll out Android 16 to eligible devices. This includes Samsung’s Galaxy S22 to S25, Z Fold and Flip 4–6, select A, M, and F series phones, as well as Xiaomi 13–15 series, Redmi Note 13–14, OnePlus 11–13, and more.
Major features arriving later Though Android 16 is rolling out now, many headline features like the redesigned interface and battery health tools will arrive later via QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1).
Material 3 Expressive UI coming soon One of the major visual overhauls expected in a future update is the Material 3 Expressive design. It will include adaptive colours, refined animations, and better haptics.
Updated Quick Settings panel The new Quick Settings layout may introduce larger toggles, a revamped brightness slider, and category-based grouping. A toggle reset option is also under testing.

Live Activities integration Live Activities, similar to Apple’s Live Activities, will likely arrive in QPR1, enabling real-time info (like sports scores or delivery tracking) to appear on the lock screen and status bar.
