OpenAI has extended its affordable subscription plan, ChatGPT Go, to 16 additional Asian countries, broadening access to its latest GPT-5 model. The expansion, confirmed by company head Nick Turley, adds nations such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and Pakistan to the list, bringing the total number of Asian markets with ChatGPT Go access to 18.
Originally launched in India and Indonesia earlier this year, ChatGPT Go is designed to make OpenAI’s flagship chatbot more accessible in emerging markets. Priced at Rs 399 per month in India and 75,000 rupiah in Indonesia, the plan offers a fraction of the cost of OpenAI’s other premium tiers, such as ChatGPT Plus at $20 and ChatGPT Pro at $200 per month.
What does ChatGPT Go bring for users?
ChatGPT Go includes all features available in the free version, alongside expanded access to image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis tools. It also offers higher usage limits for both chat and creative tasks, making it suitable for students, freelancers, and small businesses looking for AI assistance without a steep subscription fee.
OpenAI said the lower-cost plan is aimed at accelerating AI adoption in developing regions. The company noted that by May 2025, ChatGPT usage in low-income countries had grown four times faster than in high-income ones.
The rollout is gradual, with availability currently limited on iOS in certain markets such as Laos, Cambodia, and Nepal. OpenAI expects to extend full access across all platforms soon.
