Former Indian men's hockey team captain Manpreet Singh's journey has been fraught with challenges. Growing up in poverty in Mithapur, Punjab, his family struggled to make ends meet. A lingering allegation still affects him deeply.

With an Olympic bronze from Tokyo and golds from the Asian Games in 2014 and 2022, Manpreet draws strength from these experiences as he prepares for his fourth Olympics in Paris later this month. It's an achievement he never envisioned when he began his career.

It will be his fourth Olympics, something the 32-year-old never imagined to achieve when he started his journey from the modest lanes of Mithapur, a town in Punjab.

"I never thought that I would be able to play four Olympics. It is every player's dream to play in the Olympics and win medals. I consider myself very lucky that this is my fourth Olympics," Manpreet told PTI Bhasha.
