Paris Olympic 2024 opening ceremony: In a first of a kind, the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will not be held in a stadium, but along the Seine river. The Olympics, which officially gets underway from Friday (July 26), will witness the traditional parade in boats instead of usual tracks of a stadium, as witnessed in the previous editions of the Games.

Approximately 100 boats will carry an estimated number of 10,500 athletes along the Seine river, passing through the iconic landmarks of the city. As per reports, the ceremony will start from Austerlitz Bridge, which is close to Jardin des Plantes, the main botanical garden in France. The boat will sail six kilometers towards the west of Seine river, during which it will pass through bridges and iconic landmarks such as Notre-Dame and the Louvre.

The boats will also pass through a few venues dedicated to the Games, including the Esplanade des Invalides and the Grand Palais. The boat ride will conclude opposite of the Trocadero, following which the pre-game rituals will take place. The Games will be declared open after lighting the Olympic cauldron.
