India Vs Australia Test Series: India Beat Australia In 1st Test At Perth

India produced an all-round performance in the series opener of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and defeated Australia by 295 runs. Chasing a mammoth 534, Australia could only manage 238 in response. The outcome helped India take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The second Test scheduled to start from December 6 in Adelaide, which is a day-night affair. Bumrah, India's stand-in skipper, led the side from front and accounted for eight wickets in both the innings combined. He was brilliantly assisted by Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj. All-rounder Nitesh Reddy, who also made his Test debut, made his presence felt in both departments of the game. He amassed a total of 79 runs in both innings combined. With the ball, Reddy removed Mitchell Marsh on 47, his first scalp in Test cricket. India were dismissed for 150 in the first innings, but outplayed Australia in the second. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was dismissed for a 8-ball duck in the first innings, scored a superb 161 in the second. Together with KL Rahul, Jaiswal added 201 for the opening wicket in the second innings before Rahul got dismissed for 77. Virat Kohli also ended his century drought and scored 100 off 143 balls.
