The 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand at Lord's is ranked one of the most dramatic games in the history of the sport. England won the match on the basis of boundary count as the scores were tied after the regulatory 50 overs, and even the Super Over. Umpires Marais Erasmus and Kumar Dharmasena gave England six runs in the last over of the game after an overthrow went for four, although they later acknowledged that it should have been five.
Kane Williamson was at the center of it and while reflecting on the mistake, the former New Zealand skipper made a playful comment.
England needed nine runs off the last three balls to chase 242 in the World Cup final. Ben Stokes, who was on strike, tried to scamper two runs after slamming the ball towards mid-wicket. However, as Stokes dived to complete the double, the throw from the deep struck his bat and the ball went for four behind the stumps.

Three runs were required off two balls after the umpires opted to award six runs, two for running between the wicket and four in the form of overthrow. Later on, Dharmasena acknowledged that the run in progress shouldn't have counted and that just five runs should have been awarded.
Now after slightly over six years, Williamson has responded to the umpire's mistake with a humorous comment. "Yeah, there you go, so we won it. It's a good feeling," Williamson noted while speaking on Star Sports. "It was quite remarkable to hear that afterwards and for the umpires to get that wrong. But, in the moment, you went just trying to control what you could control. That was one of those unfortunate things. Remarkable when you see it," Williamson added.
After losing to Australia in 2015, it was New Zealand's and Williamson's second straight World Cup final defeat. The star Kiwi batter, however, had something to cheer as he was named the Player of the Tournament.
