Harry Brook, the top-ranked Test batsman in the world, batted at number five for England in the opening innings of the ongoing match versus India at Lord's, but he didn't make much of an impact. In the 55th over, world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah sent the 26-year-old right-handed batter back to the pavilion, which was the bowler's first and only wicket of the day. Bumrah broke through Brook's defense and smashed his stumps on the fourth ball of the over in the final session of the day.
Brook, who hit 99 and 158 runs in the first innings of the previous two Tests of the series, was only able to muster 11 runs from 20 balls with two fours at the Home of Cricket. Here is the video of the wicket:
With the dismissal, Bumrah tied Kapil Dev's record of 43 wickets for India in Tests played in England.
Kapil played 13 Tests against England in their country throughout his 16-year career. Bumrah equalled his tally in 10 matches.
Only Ishant Sharma has taken more Test wickets for India against England on English soil. The veteran pacer, who is now retired from international cricket, has taken 48 wickets in 14 Tests in England.

Meanwhile, Joe Root led the charge for England on a day, which saw Ben Stokes and Co. show patience and not go after the bowlers right from the word go. At Stumps on Day 1 at Lord's, Root was batting at 99 and was joined by Stokes at the other end, who returned unbeaten on 39. The duo added 79 runs for the fifth wicket, which took England to 251/4 at the close of play.
Earlier, Root and Ollie Pope stood tall and resisted the Indian attack after joining hands almost at the start of first session. The pair watched out the remainder of the opening session and then the second before Ravindra Jadeja brought an end to it. The spinner struck right after Tea by getting Pope caught-behind on 44.
The day started with Nitish Kumar Reddy helping India get off to a strong start. The hosts, who won the toss and opted to bat, were rocked by Reddy's twin blows. The medium pacer removed both England openers - Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley - in the same over. Duckett was dismissed for 23, while Zak Crawley managed 18.
India also had a bitter pill to swallow on Day 1. Rishabh Pant hurt his fingers and was forced to leave the field, and his recovery remains uncertain at the moment. While Dhruv Jurel has done a great job behind the stumps so far, it would be interesting to see if Pant recovers in time to light up Lord's with his stylish batting.
