Ravichandran Ashwin is a cricketing legend, a mastermind of the game. He is part of many glorious chapters with the Indian cricket team, which include the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. The carrom-ball specialist, one of his most lethal weapons, earlier this week drew curtains on his illustrious career, retiring as India's second highest wicket-taker in Tests.
The decision to retire, however, came in one of the most unexpected fashion. The 38-year-old was part of the Indian squad in Australia and midway during the tour, which was after the third Test, Ashwin shocked the world by calling quits.
Ever since the announcement, many, including the cricket fraternity, have come forward to congratulate the spinner on a memorable ride. Ashwin, who we all know remains active on social media, mostly X (formerly Twitter), has responded to some of the messages. While doing so Ashwin also casually a dropped a list featuring India legends Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev and dedicated a special "heart attack" post to the duo.
Expressing gratitude, Ashwin shared the call log list on his phone, which was from the final day of his international career, and it featured the Indian duo, making him feel blessed. The screenshot revealed that Sachin had got in touch with Ashwin on Facetime, while Kapil Dev got in touch with the spinner on WhatsApp.
"If some one told me 25 years ago that I would have a smart phone with me and the call log on the last day of my career as an Indian cricketer would look like this, I would have had a heart attack then only. Thanks @sachin_rt and @therealkapildev paaji #blessed."
Ashwin has shared the dressing room with batting maestro Tendulkar previously while donning the Indian jersey. The relation with India's first World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev has mostly been outside the field as an inspiration.
