Ravichandran Ashwin is reported to be leaving the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The development was reported by Cricbuzz based on the recent events in the camp of the five-time IPL champions.
Although the precise cause of the unavoidable split is not immediately apparent, it is thought that the seasoned off-spinner has made up his mind and has informed the team of it.
Cricbuzz had reported on Thursday that senior CSK administrators and players, including current and former captains MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad, have been meeting in Chennai over the past few days. It is unknown if Ashwin has any clue about CSK's future plans.

The seasoned spinner, who has served as the Director of Operations at the CSK Academy for the past year, is expected to resign in what appears to be an inevitable step. It has been learned that he is eager to prevent any conflict of interest that would arise from continuing in the CSK post if he were to join another franchise.
In the IPL circuit, Ashwin, a veteran of 221 games with 187 wickets (at a solid economy rate of 7.29) and 833 runs (at a strike rate of 118), will undoubtedly find takers. The interesting question is whether the player will be sold at auction or traded to another team.
He participated in nine games for CSK last season after being bought by the franchise for Rs 9.75 crore, marking a high-profile return to his home franchise after a nine-year gap. Between 2016 and 2024, the veteran off-spinner played for Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals. He began his IPL career with CSK in 2009 and spent his first eight seasons (2008–2015) under MS Dhoni’s leadership.
