Prithvi Shaw smashes century in first innings for Maharashtra

Prithvi Shaw made an instant impact after switching from Mumbai to Maharashtra. The 25-year-old, who impressed many during the initial phase of cricketing career but failed to live up to the hype in years to follow, smashed a century in his first outing for his new team. Shaw's ton came on the second day of the opening round clash between Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh in the Buchi Babu Tournament 2025.

Shaw took just 122 deliveries to reach the triple digit mark, which featured 14 fours and one six. His efforts also rescued Maharashtra from a tricky spot as the team lost four wickets in the span of 15 runs, which was after a strong 71-run opening stand between Shaw and Sachin Dhas.

The collapse included the wickets of Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Maharashtra skipper Ankeet Bawane. Shaw then added 57 runs for the fifth wicket with Siddharth Mhatre to get the house back in order. He was eventually dismissed for 111 off 141 balls.
