Waugh said that he might have come across the news on Twitter, where it appeared that Ravi Shastri had been appointed head of the selectors. The Indian commentator responded by emphasizing that there was no evidence to support such accusations and that Waugh's source was unreliable.
Meanwhile, In the meantime, India posted a competitive 264/9 thanks to former captain Rohit Sharma's cautious 73 and Shreyas Iyer's 61.
Sent into bat, Rohit earned his runs off 97 balls with two hits over the fence and seven boundaries, while Iyer scored his runs off 77 deliveries, including seven fours.

Arshdeep Singh (13) and Harshit Rana (24 not out) shared a crucial 37-run partnership for the ninth wicket towards the end, which helped India reach the competitive total.
Right-arm medium pacer Xavier Bartlett took three wickets for 39 runs, including the valuable scalp of Kohli, while leg-spinner Adam Zampa took four wickets for 60 runs in his ten overs for Australia. India lost the rain-affected first ODI by 7 wickets via DLS method, putting them behind 0-1 in the three-match series.
