RCB began the chase on a strong note with Virat Kohli taking the charge. Together with Phil Salt, the RCB veteran added 80 for the opening stand, which was broken by impact substitute Harsh Dubey in the seventh over. Salt then shouldered the responsibility and hammered 62 off 32 balls, which featured four 4s and five 6s. Apart from the duo no other RCB batters could resist the SRH attack, with Jitesh Sharma's, also RCB's skipper for the match, 15-ball 24 being the third highest individual total. RCB were eventually folded for 189 in 19.5 overs, costing their Top 2 ambitions a massive dent. For SRH, skipper Pat Cummins registered three scalps and Eshan Malinga picked two wickets. Jaydev Unadkat, Nitesh Reddy and Harshal Patel also managed a scalp each.
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave Sunrisers an explosive start. The pair added 54 before Lungi Ngidi got rid of Abhishek at 34(17) in the final ball of the fourth over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then got rid of Head in the next over, packing the Aussie for 17(10).
Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan then added 48(27) for the third wicket before spinner Suyash Sharma dismissed the former for 24(13). The plundering by SRH continued as Aniket Verma joined the show and combined with Ishan to add 43(17) for the next wicket. Krunal Pandya broke the stand after a miss hit by Aniket (26 off 9) was caught by Bhuvneshwar inside the 30-yard-circle.
