IPL 2025 Match, LSG vs SRH Highlights: Abhishek Sharma (59) and Heinrich Klaasen (47) led the charge as Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a commanding six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL clash on Monday (May 19). Chasing a target of 206, Sharma gave SRH a blazing start, smashing 59 off just 20 balls with six sixes and five fours, setting the tone for the chase.
Ishan Kishan chipped in with a brisk 35 off 28 deliveries, while Kamindu Mendis added 32 before retiring hurt. SRH wrapped up the chase in 18.2 overs, finishing at 206/4 to notch only their fourth win of the season.
Earlier, Atharva Taide and Abhishek Sharma began chase for SRH but the new combination didn't work as Sunrisers would have wanted. Taide was trapped at deep third by Will O' Rourke. Joining Sharma in the middle, Ishan Kishan also looked to attack early as SRH eyed a strong start in the powerplay and they got it right in the first six overs getting 72 runs of them. To put the icing on the cake, Sharma then smashed Ravi Bishnoi for 4 sixes in a row in the seventh over leaving LSG in a helpless situation just before the first time-out of the second innings.
The match saw a tense moment when Digvesh Rathi celebrated Sharma’s dismissal with his trademark notebook gesture. However, it wasn’t just the celebration that seemed to provoke Abhishek. Before pulling out the notebook celebration, Rathi was seen aggressively gesturing to Sharma to leave the field, adding more fuel to the fire.
In the first innings, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh opened the batting brilliantly for the Lucknow Super Giants. LSG got off to a fine start with both openers batting in good touch. SRH bowlers looked clueless as they conceded 69 runs in the first six overs. Marsh and Markram continued their onslaught until the Australian got out in the 11th over. After a sensational start to the innings, Marsh got trapped by debutant Harsh Dubey. Captain Rishabh Pant promoted himself to number 3 position but even that did not work for him as he got dismissed for just 7 off 6 by Eshan Malinga.
LSG lost two wickets in quick succession after a good start but Markram held his ground on the other end and completed his fifty after Nicholas Pooran joined in the middle. He hit fifty in just 30 deliveries.
It took a special delivery and moment to dismiss Markram in this game as Harshal Patel bowled a brilliant slower yorker to get the better off the LSG opener. It was also his 150th T20 wicket. Pooran, who scored a brisk 45 off 26 balls, couldn’t find his usual rhythm with the big hits but still guided his team past the 200-run mark.
Making his first bowling appearance of the season, Nitish Reddy was handed the final over and ended up conceding 20 runs. Earlier, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has won the toss and elected to bowl first against LSG.
