In the second innings, Sunil Narine and Rahmanullah Gurbaz got seven runs off the first over of Marco Jansen but KKR did not get a chance to showcase their batting due to the bad weather. Earlier, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya demolised the KKR bowling attack after PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first against KKR.
Punjab openers Prabhsimran and Priyansh got their team to a flying start in the powerplay with 56 runs on the board without loss of a wicket. KKR's spin duo - Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine failed to impress tonight as they could not trouble the top order of PBKS. Arya and Singh added 120 for the first wicket.
After carnage from the PBKS openers, it was Andre Russell who provided the first breakthrough with the wicket of Priyansh Arya. From then on, it was Prabhsimran Singh who took the matter into his own hands and smashed the KKR bowlers before getting dismissed on 83 off 49 deliveries. Varun Chakravarthy once again got the better of Glenn Maxwell as he dismissed the Aussie for 7 off 8. Shreyas Iyer contributed with an unbeaten 25 off 16 balls. KKR will be happy with their performance in the death overs as they gave away just 43 runs in the last six.
Punjab Kings would be disappointed after sharing a point with KKR as they posted a challenging total on a pitch where it was not easy to chase 200 plus. PBKS move to fourth position in the points table whereas KKR are now seventh.
