GT vs MI Highlights, IPL 2025 Eliminator: Rohit Sharma made Gujarat Titans (GT) pay for their fielding mistakes as Mumbai Indians (MI) beat them by 20 runs in the IPL 2025 Eliminator at Mullanpur on Friday. The outcome takes Mumbai to Qualifier 2, where they meet Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the winner will then set a date with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the finals. Meanwhile, Gujarat's supreme run in the tournament comes to an end.
Earlier, Mumbai piled a staggering 228/5 after deciding to bat as Rohit led the show. The opener was dropped twice in the initial stages and the Hitman ensured he capitalised on it. Rohit slammed a 28-ball half-century and was eventually dismissed for 81 off 50 balls, which featured nine 4s and four 6s. In the process Rohit also took his overall IPL run tally beyond 7000, becoming the only second batter after Virat Kohli to achieve the feat.
Gujarat in response managed 206/8 before running out of deliveries. They were jolted early as Trent Boult packed Shubman Gill for 1(2). Sai Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis then struck 64 for the second wicket before a hit-wicket led to the latter's wicket, who departed for 20(10). Washington Sundar joined Sudharsan in the middle, who was going strong and completed his half-century. The pair kept the momentum intact and powered Gujarat to 151/3 in 13.1 overs before Jasprit Bumrah nailed a perfect yorker to castle Sundar for 48(24), featuring five 4s and three 6s.
Shortly after Sudharsan was castled for 80(49). The batter lost his wicket while attempting a scoop against a low full-toss by Richard Gleeson behind the wicketkeeper. Sherfane Rutherford was dismissed soon after as the impact substitute managed 24 off 15 balls.
Meanwhile, the MI innings began with Jonny Bairstow making the intentions clear from the word go. The English batter smashed 47(22), featuring four boundaries and three maximums, before getting out against Sai Kishore. Suryakumar Yadav, who is another contender for the Orange Cap, was dismissed for 33(20) by Kishore. Tilak Varma chipped in with a handy 25 off 11 balls and skipper Hardik Pandya closed the innings with a blazing 22* off 9 balls.
