Fans mock Subramaniam Badrinath with brutal gesture, ex-CSK star responds with grace

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Subramaniam Badrinath was brutally trolled by a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporter, the video of which has gone viral on social media. The incident took place in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) where Badrinath is part of the commentary panel. The moment happened when Badrinath was getting ready to take his seat in the commentary box and was constantly being mocked by "RCB" chants by a section of fans seated right outside.

The video showed a fan waving a RCB jersey at the ex-cricketer and the chants were loud enough for him to notice. Badrinath also acknowledged the reaction by the fans by giving a thumbs up before taking his seat. Here is the video:

Badrinath tasted many glories with CSK, who are regarded as one of the most successful franchises in the cash-rich league. While the team has lifted five IPL titles in 18 years of the competition, Badrinath was part of 2010 and 2011 winning campaign. He also lifted the Champions League Twenty20 trophy (now defunct) in 2010.

RCB, on the other hand, ended 17 years of misfortune and finally clinched their maiden title in the 18th season, which concluded recently. The team defeated Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings by six wickets in the final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, the victory didn't take long to turn sour as both the franchise and the Karnataka state government have faced backlash for their title celebration. On June 4, a day after RCB won the IPL, thousands of ecstatic supporters gathered outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the franchise's home venue, to celebrate the triumph. But mismanagement of the crowd led to a stampede, leaving 11 dead and several injured.
