Wasim Akram, the legendary Pakistan pacer, voiced his displeasure over the decision that cut short Fakhar Zaman’s stay in the middle. The dismissal came off a caught-behind completed by Sanju Samson, which was sent upstairs for close examination. It was a tight call but replay suggested that Samson had got his fingers underneath the ball right on time.
However, Akram still felt otherwise, suggesting the ball may have touched the turf before settling in the wicketkeeper’s gloves. If there is no conclusive evidence, then the benefit of the doubt should go to the batter.”

As the game began, India opted to field after winning the toss. In a tactical shuffle, Pakistan opened with Fakhar Zaman alongside Sahibzada Farhan, while regular opener Saim Ayub was pushed down to No. 3. The move appeared to be a response to Ayub’s poor run, as he had failed to open his account in the tournament so far.
All things considered, Pakistan benefited greatly from the transition. In the first over he faced, Fakhar Zaman came out determined to smash Jasprit Bumrah, the finest bowler in India. Pakistan were able to record a substantial total because of his batting style and decisive shot-making, which placed India on the defensive. It was clear that the outcome of the match would depend heavily on the southpaw's wicket.
Hardik Pandya bowled a slowish ball on the third delivery of the third over that was slanting away from the batter. Fakhar gained an outside edge by nudging it, which was collected sharply by Samson behind the stumps.
