Much like fans and analysts, the team management and selectors had high hopes for Mayank Yadav's speed and precision. However, his injury setback may have dashed those expectations.
On the flip side, Rishabh Pant has used the IPL as a platform to demonstrate his fitness after recovering from a serious car accident in December 2022. Nonetheless, it's anticipated that Sanju Samson will be preferred as the primary wicketkeeper, given India's requirement for a spin-hitting option alongside their top three batsmen, who can sometimes struggle against spin bowling.
Meanwhile, Jitesh Sharma's recent form hasn't been up to par, and KL Rahul has been occupying the crowded opening slots. The top four batsmen—captain Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav—were more or less locked in even before the IPL commenced.
The selectors may have concerns about Hardik Pandya's bowling fitness.
