Muthusamy resumed action on Day 2 alongside Kyle Verreynne from the overnight total of 247-6. The pair gave South Africa the edge by adding 88 runs for the seventh wicket. Ravindra Jadeja gave India the much-needed breakthrough as Verreynne was stumped on 45. This introduced Marco Jansen into the action, who combined with Muthusamy to accelerate the scoring rate. Together the duo have added 97 for the next wicket. What hurt India most was Jansen's resilience in the final session as he combined with Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj to add 58 runs for the final two wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav returned with four scalps, while Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj registered two wickets each in the innings.
