Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head have been punished for their on-field spat during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Monday (December 9). India's fast bowler has been fined 20 percent of his match fees while Head escaped a fine but was sanctioned for his verbal exchange with the India pacer. Both cricketers have been handed one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.

"Siraj has been penalised 20% of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal," the ICC said in a statement.
