Indian‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav after the T20I series win over Australia made a humorous comment about the trophy controversy of the Asia Cup. The fifth and final T20I in Brisbane was washed out due to rain, so Suryakumar’s side won the 5-match series 2-1.

After the game, Suryakumar jokingly said that it was nice to actually have the trophy in hand, which could be inferred as a reference to the Asia Cup final, where the Indian team after winning the title went celebrating without getting the trophy. India had beaten Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final, but the team refused to accept the trophy from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi, and the Asia Cup trophy has still not been given to ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌them.

“It feels great to finally get to touch the trophy. Felt it in my hands, when I was handed over the trophy for the series victory. A few days back another trophy arrived in India our women's team has won the World Cup. That trophy has also arrived back home. It feels great and getting to touching this trophy as well feels good,” Suryakumar said during the post-match press conference.
