Delhi Premier League auction: Last year, the Delhi Premier League (DPL) attracted a lot of interest due to the talent that advanced from the domestic franchise league to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as the exciting performances that were seen throughout the first season. The DPL will be back in 2025, and the auction is set for July 5. However, the DPL made news before the season even started since the relatives of two Indian cricket icons were on the shortlist for the auction.
Aaryaveer Kohli, the nephew of former India captain Virat Kohli, is included in the DPL's inaugural draft list for the second season. The 15-year-old, who trains at the West Delhi Cricket Academy under Virat's childhood coach Raj Kumar Sharma, is a leg-spinner in contrast to his uncle. Aaryaveer has been assigned to Category C, which is designated for Delhi Under-16 cricketers.

The draft list also includes Aaryavir, the 17-year-old son of India's batting legend Virender Sehwag. At the U-19 level, he had previously played for the state and amassed an incredible 297 against Meghalaya. He and his younger brother, 15-year-old off-spinner Vedant, who has represented Delhi U-16, have been assigned to Category B.
The Outer Delhi and New Delhi franchises will be the two new teams added to the Delhi Premier League for the second season. The Central Delhi Kings, Purani Dilli 6, West Delhi Lions, South Delhi Superstarz, East Delhi Riders, and North Delhi Strikers are the previous six teams.
After defeating South Delhi Superstarz by three runs in the exciting final of the first season, East Delhi Riders took home the trophy. The season also saw the rise of Priyansh Arya, who later made an impression on the world of cricket with his performance for the Punjab Kings in the IPL this year. He amassed 475 runs, including a century, during PBKS's march to the finale. Another such player was Digvesh Rathi, who was signed by the Lucknow Super Giants. During IPL 2025, he took 14 wickets in 13 games.
