‘Chakke ne hi jitaya’: Ex-India star hits back at comment on 2011 World Cup win

India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 2, 2011 to win their second ODI World Cup title after 1983.

During a recent interview with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, former India batter Suresh Raina was asked about MS Dhoni’s 2011 World Cup-winning six, in the light of some statements by a few players of the squad about the particular six.

When asked about ‘ek chakke ne jitaya ya nahi jitaya (did India win because of one six or not)’, Raina said that everyone knows they won after Dhoni’s six.

Mishar asked, "After winning the World Cup, we, as fans, have heard about a rivalry within the team. A lot of statements came. It continues till today. I have seen people ask you in interviews that ek chakke ne jitaya ya nahi jitaya."
