Highlights | BAN vs SL T20I, Asia Cup 2025: Sri Lanka kicked off their Asia Cup campaign in style, defeating Bangladesh by 6 wickets in their Group B clash on Saturday. The six-time champions comfortably chased down the target of 140 with 32 balls to spare, thanks to a solid opening display.
Batting first, Bangladesh managed just 139 for 5, struggling to build momentum against Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling attack. In response, opener Pathum Nissanka led the charge with a fluent 50 off 34 deliveries, featuring six fours and one six. He forged a decisive 95-run stand for the second wicket with Kamil Mishara, who stayed unbeaten on 46 from 32 balls, steering the chase home in just 14.4 overs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s bowlers ensured Bangladesh never settled at the crease. Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 2 for 25, while pacers Nuwan Thushara (1/17) and Dushmantha Chameera (1/17) removed the openers early. Bangladesh’s innings began in disarray, with both Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon dismissed without scoring.
A late rescue act from the middle order helped Bangladesh reach a respectable total, as Shamim Hossain (42*) and Jaker Ali (41*) stitched together an unbroken 86-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
