Injured red fox rescued and released after a month of treatment in Ladakh

A red fox found injured in Leh is back home. It spent a month under care before walking into the wild again.

Rescue from Spituk Farka Village
The fox was rescued on 1 July in Leh. Villagers spotted the weak animal near Spituk Farka and informed the authorities. Wildlife officials quickly reached the site and took it to the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.

Doctors found wounds on its shoulder and forearm. They believe the injuries came from a metal chain or barbed wire. Because the wounds were old, maggots had formed, and the area was badly infected. The fox was also weak and underweight.

Month-Long Treatment at WRRC
The wildlife team began full medical treatment straight away. The care included daily feeding, deworming and regular health checks. The fox regained strength and slowly began to respond well.
