TIRUMALA: The sacred town of Tirumala is all set to celebrate the annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara, beginning Wednesday, September 24, with the auspicious Dwajarohanam ritual. The nine-day-long festival, considered one of the most significant Hindu temple celebrations, is expected to attract lakhs of devotees from across the country.
Significance of Tirumala Brahmotsavam
According to tradition, the Brahmotsavam was first performed by Lord Brahma on the banks of Swamy Pushkarini as a mark of gratitude to Lord Venkateswara for protecting humanity during the Kaliyuga. Since then, it has been celebrated annually with great devotion and grandeur at the Tirumala Tirupati Temple.
Dignitaries to Attend
The inaugural day will witness the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan, highlighting the importance of this sacred occasion.

- Bomb squads and road-opening teams have conducted checks along both Ghat Roads for safe VIP and pilgrim movement.
- Srivari Sevaks, who play a crucial role in assisting pilgrims, will see enhanced facilities and recognition for their dedicated service.
Tirumala is glowing with theme-based illuminations and floral decorations that add a divine touch to the celebrations.
- Vibrant iron frameworks and colourful serial lights showcase sacred scenes such as Garuda Vahanam, Lakshmi Narasimha Swaroopam, Lord Vishnu Avatars, and Sri Rama Pattabhishekam.
- Green light arches and artificial coconut trees sourced from Nagpur enhance the visual appeal.
- Illuminated displays at key points, including the GNC toll gate and Pancha Janayam Guest House, are set to mesmerise pilgrims.
All palanquins and vahanams have been cleaned and decorated, ready for carrying Lord Venkateswara during the daily processions. Priests, Veda Pandits, Jeeyers, and their disciples have already arrived to conduct the elaborate rituals with devotion and precision.
Artisans and Traditional Craftsmanship
Skilled artisans from Vijayawada, Hyderabad, and Tirupati have crafted the iron and electrical decorations, creating a mesmerizing glow around the temple town.
