The Parana time is crucial and must be observed during Dwadashi Tithi. Breaking the fast too early or too late may nullify the vrat's benefits.

Why Is It Called Putrada Ekadashi?

In Sanskrit, Putrada means "giver of a son." In Sanatan Dharma, having a son is considered important for performing antyeshti kriya (last rites) and shraddha karma (ancestral rituals). Sons are traditionally expected to perform these rituals to ensure the liberation (moksha) of the ancestors’ souls. Therefore, Putrada Ekadashi fasting is recommended for couples who wish to be blessed with a male child, especially for those who follow the belief in life after death and ancestral liberation.
