Saddula Bathukamma marks the grand finale of the Bathukamma festival, Telangana’s most celebrated floral festival dedicated to Goddess Gauri. In 2025, Saddula Bathukamma will be observed on September 29–30, 2025, coinciding with Ashwayuja Shuddha Ashtami and Durga Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri. In certain regions, it will also be celebrated on October 11, 2025, with great devotion.
Bathukamma Festival 2025
The Bathukamma festival begins on September 21, 2025, with Bhadrapada Amavasya, and concludes with Saddula Bathukamma on September 29–30. Known as Batukamma Panduga in Telugu, the name means “Come alive, Mother Goddess”. The festival symbolizes the worship of Goddess Gauri (Gauramma), celebrated with floral arrangements, traditional rituals, and cultural festivities across Telangana.
Saddula Bathukamma Naivedyam and Palaharam
One of the highlights of Saddula Bathukamma is the offering of five special Telangana rice varieties, collectively called Saddhi, prepared as Naivedyam (sacred food offering). These include:
- Perugu Saddhi: Curd rice
- Chinthapandu Pulihora Saddhi: Tamarind rice
- Nimmakaya Saddhi: Lemon rice
- Kobbari Saddhi: Coconut rice
- Nuvvula Saddhi: Sesame rice
These traditional dishes not only add cultural flavor but also carry deep spiritual significance as offerings to Goddess Gauri.
