Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Chauth, it is one of the most celebrated Hindu festivals dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. This year it will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27.
According to the Hindu calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the Shukla Paksha Chaturthi Tithi in the Bhadrapada month, which usually occurs in August or September. The 10-day festival, also known as Ganeshotsav, will conclude with Ganesh Visarjan on Saturday, September 6, 2025, when idols of Lord Ganesha are immersed in water with grand processions.

The Madhyahna Ganesh Puja Muhurat is considered the most auspicious time for worship, as it is believed that Lord Ganesha was born during Madhyahna Kala (midday according to Hindu timekeeping).
Moon Sighting Timings to Avoid:
- Previous Day (August 26): 3:24 PM to 8:32 PM
- Ganesh Chaturthi Day (August 27): 9:12 AM to 9:07 PM
If someone accidentally sees the moon during the prohibited time, they can chant the following mantra to remove the curse:
"Simhah Prasenamavadhitsimho Jambavata Hatah। Sukumaraka Marodistava Hyesha Syamantakah॥"
Ganesh Visarjan 2025
The celebrations will end on Anant Chaturdashi, which falls on Saturday, September 6, 2025. On this day, devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by immersing the idols in rivers, lakes, or seas, accompanied by devotional songs, drum beats, and chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya.
