Ganesha Chaturthi 2025: As Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 approaches, Pune gears up for its grandest celebration at the famous Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir. This year the iconic pandal will showcase a majestic Kerala-style tribute to Padmanabhaswamy Temple, blending Maharashtra’s festive spirit with South India’s sacred artistry.
Kerala-Style Padmanabhaswamy Replica in Pune
Marking its 133rd year, the Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust has chosen to recreate the grandeur of Thiruvananthapuram’s Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of India’s most revered Vishnu shrines. The life-sized replica will stand nearly 120 feet long, 90 feet wide, and 100 feet tall, featuring 30 intricately carved pillars, an octagonal dome, and over 500 sculpted deities and sages.
Inside the pandal, devotees will witness Lord Padmanabha in Anantashayana (eternal yogic sleep), surrounded by detailed depictions from the Ramayana and Krishna Leela. Idols of Vishnu-Lakshmi, Shiva-Parvati, Krishna, and Narasimha will further enrich the spiritual atmosphere.
Artisans and Craftsmanship
Over 400 skilled artisans from Maharashtra are working day and night at Hirabagh Kothi, where the massive bamboo and wooden framework is being transformed into a temple-like masterpiece. Treasurer Mahesh Suryavanshi explains, “It is not just decoration; it is craftsmanship at its finest. Every pillar and carving is made with devotion.”
The celebration at Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati 2025 is expected to attract over two crore devotees from across India. Along with the grand décor, visitors can participate in aartis, maha abhishek, Ganesh yag, Satya Vinayak puja, varkari jagran, Ganga aarti, and mass Atharvashirsha recitals by thousands, including schoolchildren.
To ensure a smooth darshan, the trust has arranged walkways for senior citizens and differently-abled devotees, along with a focus on eco-friendly practices like reusable decorations and reduced plastic use.
Kerala’s Sacred Aura in Pune
The replica promises to recreate Kerala’s temple atmosphere with brass lamps, intricate rangoli, floral garlands, and devotional bhajans. For devotees, it will feel like experiencing Thiruvananthapuram’s Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the heart of Pune.
“Every year Dagdusheth surprises us with something unique,” says Swati Marathe, a long-time devotee. “This Kerala theme is magical, it feels like travelling to Kerala without leaving Pune.”
As the city gets ready for Ganeshotsav 2025, Pune’s streets will soon glow in saffron, echo with dhol-tasha, and resound with chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’. With the Kerala-style pandal, this year’s Dagdusheth Ganpati festival will be remembered as a fusion of cultures where artistry meets devotion and tradition meets innovation.
