To provide better facilities and ensure a hassle-free experience for Amarnath Yatra 2025 pilgrims, the Kathua district administration in Jammu and Kashmir has set up 36 lodgement centres and 6 RFID registration counters. These developments are part of a broader effort to enhance arrangements ahead of the 38-day-long Amarnath pilgrimage, which starts on July 3 from the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
Lakhanpur, located on the J&K–Punjab border, serves as the main entry point for devotees coming from across India. According to Deputy Commissioner of Kathua, Rakesh Minhas, preparations are in full swing to turn Lakhanpur into a multi-facility hub for pilgrims. He stated, “We have established 36 well-equipped lodgement centres, six RFID counters, adequate public toilets, and entertainment zones for yatris.” These facilities are aimed at making the journey more comfortable and secure for the pilgrims.
Amarnath Yatra 2025: Route and Registration Update
The Amarnath Yatra 2025 will commence from two routes:
- Pahalgam route (48 km) in Anantnag district – traditional and scenic
- Baltal route (14 km) in Ganderbal district – shorter but steeper
So far, over 3.5 lakh pilgrims have registered for the yatra, with thousands more expected to arrive daily at Lakhanpur for further movement towards the holy cave shrine.
Deputy Commissioner Minhas recently inspected the Lakhanpur corridor to review the lodgement centres, sanitation units, registration points, and reception zones. He directed the departments concerned to ensure the early setup of:
- Waterproof pandals
- Medical and help desks
- Cold drinking water kiosks
- Fully functional lavatory complexes
The goal is to have all amenities ready before the arrival of the first batch of yatris.
High-Level Security Review in Udhampur
To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the yatra, a high-level security meeting was held in Udhampur district under the chairmanship of SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure. The meeting focused on:
- Security planning
- Intelligence sharing
- Traffic regulation
- Emergency medical services
- Logistics coordination
SSP Nagpure stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination, proactive policing, and anti-narcotics operations. Officers were instructed to remain vigilant, conduct mock drills, and hold regular briefing sessions to stay prepared for any challenges during the pilgrimage.
With strategic preparations, improved infrastructure, and enhanced security protocols, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and safe Amarnath Yatra 2025 for the lakhs of pilgrims expected this year. The focus remains on comfort, safety, and spiritual fulfillment for every yatri.
