To provide better facilities and ensure a hassle-free experience for Amarnath Yatra 2025 pilgrims, the Kathua district administration in Jammu and Kashmir has set up 36 lodgement centres and 6 RFID registration counters. These developments are part of a broader effort to enhance arrangements ahead of the 38-day-long Amarnath pilgrimage, which starts on July 3 from the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.

Lakhanpur, located on the J&K–Punjab border, serves as the main entry point for devotees coming from across India. According to Deputy Commissioner of Kathua, Rakesh Minhas, preparations are in full swing to turn Lakhanpur into a multi-facility hub for pilgrims. He stated, “We have established 36 well-equipped lodgement centres, six RFID counters, adequate public toilets, and entertainment zones for yatris.” These facilities are aimed at making the journey more comfortable and secure for the pilgrims.

Amarnath Yatra 2025: Route and Registration Update

The Amarnath Yatra 2025 will commence from two routes:


So far, over 3.5 lakh pilgrims have registered for the yatra, with thousands more expected to arrive daily at Lakhanpur for further movement towards the holy cave shrine.

Deputy Commissioner Minhas recently inspected the Lakhanpur corridor to review the lodgement centres, sanitation units, registration points, and reception zones. He directed the departments concerned to ensure the early setup of:

High-Level Security Review in Udhampur

To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the yatra, a high-level security meeting was held in Udhampur district under the chairmanship of SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure. The meeting focused on:


SSP Nagpure stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination, proactive policing, and anti-narcotics operations. Officers were instructed to remain vigilant, conduct mock drills, and hold regular briefing sessions to stay prepared for any challenges during the pilgrimage.
