Following President Biden’s late withdrawal from the race, Harris quickly assembled her campaign, focusing on threats to democracy, women’s rights, and populist economic policies. Despite making history as the first woman of color to lead a major party ticket and gaining endorsements from celebrities, she couldn’t overcome economic frustrations favoring Trump. Misinformation about her record also hindered her appeal. While she mobilized support from women, Black voters, and independents, it wasn’t enough to win.
