Heavy Rains Batter Southeast Texas, 4-year-old swept up in North Texas floodwaters

The Houston area and the rest of Southeast Texas experienced several days of heavy rainfall and flooding. While there were no deaths or major injuries reported in the Houston area, there was a reported death of a four-year-old boy swept up in fast floodwaters in North Texas early on May 5. National Weather Service meteorologist Jimmy Fowler cautioned motorists to exercise caution when approaching flooded streets, advising them to turn around instead of driving through floodwater.
