Emmy-winning US comedian Trevor Noah cancelled both his shows in Bengaluru due to a technical glitch. Noah was supposed to perform at Manpho Conventional Centre in Manyata Tech Park at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, September 27, and Thursday, September 28. On Wednesday, however, the comedian came on stage and realised the audience could not hear him, after which he cancelled the show.
"Dear Bengaluru India, I was so looking forward to performing in your amazing city but due to technical issues we’ve been forced to cancel both shows," Trevor Noah wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "We tried everything but because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage there’s literally no way to do a show."
The cancellation came after hundreds of fans waited in a massive traffic jam on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) to watch the comedian’s show. Some, unable to reach the venue, gave away their tickets for free on social media.
The cancellation, while disappointing and embarrassing to many, also became fodder for jokes. Many said that Noah got to see the real Bengaluru – where traffic jams are commonplace.
“Bengaluru wanted to experience Trevor Noah, but Trevor Noah ended up experiencing Bengaluru,” joked one X user.
Some called it an example of a ‘peak Bengaluru’ moment
Others said that the experience has probably given the comedian a lifetime’s worth of material for future shows
Hundreds of people were stuck in a massive traffic jam for hours and reached the venue only to find out the show had been cancelled
Both Trevor Noah and show organisers BookMyShow have said that customers will receive a full refund for their tickets. That, however, is little consolation to many fans who were looking forward to the comedian’s show.
