Reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen, Amit Panghal and Sagar Ahlawat were among four Indian boxers who entered the finals of the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

Nikhat stormed into the final of women's 50kg after outclassing England's Stubley Alfia Savannah 5-0. Panghal (51kg), too, displayed his class as he reached his second consecutive CWG final. In the penultimate bout of the day, Sagar earned a unanimous 5-0 victory over Nigeria's Ifeanyi Onyekwere to reach the gold medal contest.

Nitu Ghanghas (48kg) also remained on course for a gold in her maiden appearance. But another debutant Jaismine Lamboria (60kg) had to be content with a bronze as she went down to Gemma Paige Richardson of England via a 2-3 split verdict.

Rohit Tokas managed also a bronze medal in the men's welterweight category after going down to Zambia's Stephen Zimba in the semi-final by a split decision. Before that, India's Mohammed Hussamuddin too settled for a bronze after losing his men's 57kg category semi-final against Ghana's Joseph Commey 1-4.
